Mother-in-law’s visit
The next day, James appeared in Emily’s hospital room just as visiting hours began. Emily was delighted to see her beloved husband, but her face immediately froze. Her mother-in-law followed her husband into the hospital room. She stared at her mother-in-law as if she was looking at something dirty. What hurt Emily was that even her husband looked at her with the same cold stare. How had James come to be so suspicious of the wife he loved so much?
