A week too long
During the week leading up to the results, the house that was supposed to be their love nest was filled with a heavy atmosphere. James took care of only children with the same skin as his own, and his appearance seemed to silently blame Emily. It was not until the third day that Emily noticed her husband packing. Emily realized that her denial would not reach her husband, and she could say nothing as James assured her of the outcome, “You’ll have to leave as soon as the results are in.”
